This enterprise was founded on the 11th of February in 1920 as a wharf. In
June 1961 it was renamed into the Arkhangelsk river port. From 1934 up to 1993
the wharf was the part of the River Shipping Company.
The main activity lines are: freights, public conveyance, towage of vessels,
rafts and other floating objects, accomplishment of shifting and storage works,
complex service of fleet, exploration, extraction and implementation of
nonmetalliferous - building materials, dredging and forwarding of cargoes.
The duration of navigation in the port in 2002 amounted 203 days; 26 of April
was the opening of it, and 15 of November - the end. Longstanding average
duration of the navigation period is 175 days.
The port consists of the following parts: central terminal (the 3d cargo area),
the 3d area of production of nonmetalliferous - building materials and fleet
operation, passenger department.
The central terminal performs accomplishment of shifting and storage works,
forwarding of cargoes and implementation of nonmetalliferious - building
materials.
Carrying capacity is 5,5 thousand tons per day, navigation capacity is 557
thousand tons.
Draft alongside the berth is 4 metres.
The central terminal includes:
- Cargo (reinforce concrete) berth unit of length 6/660
- Shifting equipment:
- portal cranes, lifting power is 5 and 10 tons - 13 units,
- floating cranes, lifting power is 5 and 16 tons - 3 units,
- loaders 3 and 5 tons - 13 units.
- Warehouses:
- open-air -18 800 sq meters
- covered -5946 sq meters.
Truck scales, measure weight up to 50 tons - 1 unit
Railways to the terminal allow to deliver cargo for materials handing work,
storing and further delivering to final destination.
The 3d area of nonmetalliferious-building materials production and fleet
operation carries out freight activities, towage of vessels, rafts and other
floating objects, complex service of fleet, exploration, extraction and
implementation of nonmetalliferious-building materials, dredging.
- Towboats, capacity of 150, 300, 450, 600 horse-power - 13 units,
- self-propelled boats with crane, lifting power - 450 tons,
- non-self-propelled boats, lifting power 1000-1500 tons - 30 units are used
for delivering dry cargo and towage of rafts.
Motor vessel "Uran" is used for taking sewage. SKO-5 is used for bunkering
and storage of diesel oil. And there is a special berth for drinking water
provision from a hydrant.
There is special transfer equipment (hydraulic dredge, re-loaders), allowing
hydromechanical extraction of nonmealliferious-building materials from bed pit
and dredging.
The passenger department perform conveyance and delivery of baggage,
excursion voyages, using:
- passenger vessels, tonnage 137-280 persons - 8 units,
- passenger berths and station.
