Being a shipowner, a joint-stock company "Arkhangelsk sea trade port" has a
shipping company "Portoflot" in its structure.
The history of creation of the sub-unit began in 1926 and in 1939 it was
named as "Portoflot". The first created sub-unit was a complex service
organization in the port of Arkhangelsk for the vessels of transport fleet. It
performed tug services, all kinds of ship supply, including removing of sewage
and dry garbage, public conveyence.
Since 1995 the vessels of portoflot began to work in the ports and
settlements of the White, Barents and Kara seas, performing different kinds of
cargo delivery in the cabotage.
In 2001 portoflot was renamed into the shipping company "Portoflot" in order
to bring into accord the name of the sub-unit with its main field of activity (sea
carriages).
The Company received a certification of Russian sea Registry of shipping for
the work on international markets. It met the requirements of "International
Convention of Safety Management" and received the certificate "Document of
conformity', thus it was included in the international data base about shipping
companies.
Nowadays the company has 24 vessels for different purposes in its structure and
6 vessels are used for sea carriages.
Powerful multi purpose tug fleet with intensive ice class consists of:
- 2 tugs of 2500 horse power capacity, project 134 E
- 1 tug of 1600 horse power capacity, project 4983
- 2 tugs of 1200 horse power capacity, project 498
- 2 tugs of 300 horse power capacity, project A-73.
There are 2 multi purpose tugs of intensive ice class for sea towage. Their
capacity is 2500 horse power, "Jijgin" is equipped with 2-turbine type towing
winch, has convention documents and can perform international towage of 2
objects simultaneously.
During the navigation in 2002:
Tug "Jijkin" performed 3 international towage
operations:
Arkhangelsk-Narian-Mar-Mu and Rana (Norway)- cargo - scrap metal.
Arkhangelsk-St.Petersburg (around Scandinavia) - simultaneous towage of 2
objects, St.Petersburg - Rotterdam (towage of the object).
Tug "Morjovets":
Arkhangelsk-Kirkenes (Norway).
At present the company performs delivery of different kinds of cargo in the
cabotage according to the program of the Northern delivery to the ports and
settlements of the White, Barents and Kara seas. Since 1999 vessels of the
company deliver unique bore equipment to Varandei and Myudsei directions,
including the port of Narian-Mar and the islands of the New Land. More than 400
000 tons of cargo have been carried during this period in cabotage.
- Two barge-tugs of 1400 and 2200 tons carrying capacity are used for these
purposes.
- Self- propelled pontoon "Kennitsa" of 140 tons carrying capacity, area of
the White sea.
- Fleet of other companies (up to 6 units every year).
There is a tanker of 3000 tons carrying capacity for the carriage of oil
products to the ports and settlements of the White, Barents and Kara seas. Its
power of pump equipment allows to unload fuel to the wild shores with air-open
raids.
There is also a floating crane of 100 tons capacity for the loading of heavy
and large cargo, arrangement of heavy equipment from all organizations of
Arkhangelsk. The crane was used for building of road-transport bridge, for the
majority of concrete berths of the port, loading of bore equipment to Mezen and
for other unique operations.
The Company has traditional lasting relationship with city authorities,
performing the accomplishment of social tasks on anti-flood measures, ice
breaking, public conveyance in autumn and spring, heating of island settlements
by steam tug-heaters, taking emergency measures.
Tonnage freight under any kind and quality of cargo, including the
possibility of foreign companies is one of activity fields of the Company.
There is a stately passenger launch for 50 persons for excursion along the
harborage of Arkhangelsk.
The Company has high-qualified and experienced managerial staff, the majority
of which has sea education.
